Colorful Suns by 3rd Grade
3rd Grade Artists are creating color wheel suns. They were introduced to the many cultures that have used the sun in their artwork...some dating back thousands of years. They used their knowledge of fractions (equal parts) to draw a sun with 12 equal parts to represent the rays. They came up with the most imaginative ideas of ways to represent the sun's rays. Then they designed the inside of their sun. Some chose to draw a face, some abstract designs. 3rd Grade Artists then used what they know about mixing colors (they were only given the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue) to fill in the sun's rays to represent a color wheel. The rest of their artwork was painted with tints of colors that they mixed themselves. Enjoy the bright work that 3rd grade created!
