5th Grade Watercolor Pumpkins
5th Grade Artists created these stunning pumpkin pieces while learning about shapes. They first looked at a pumpkin, noticing the shape and how the ribs of the pumpkin started at the stem and ended on the bottom. The ribs created the rounded look of the pumpkin. After drawing the pumpkin, 5th grade artists then created a foreground of grass. They then traced over all lines with glue. When the glue dried, they used the wet-in-wet watercolor technique, painting the pumpkin with warm colors and the background and foreground with cool colors. When the paint dried, they then traced all glue lines with sharpie and outlined the organic shapes that resulted from the watercolor technique. Beautiful!
